Kimono girl

I backpacked through Japan with one of my med school friends right before starting residency. One of my favorite stops was in the city of Kyoto famous for its kimonos. Even before Zoë was born, I bought a baby kimono in Kyoto. Zoë is now big enough that it fits, and she looks so cute in the outfit.

Visit to the aquarium

I had the day off on President's Day, and Zoë's daycare was closed, so we used this opportunity to visit the Shedd Aquarium. Unfortunately, Lisa had to work. Zoë really enjoyed looking at the fish and touching the exhibits.

Mom Visits Zoë in Toddler Class

Zoë's class friday had the opportunity for parents to participate in cultural activities where parents introduced ethnic foods from each of the toddler's family backgrounds. Lisa was able to get away from work for a little while and participate. We brought Japanese crackers mainly because we didn't have Chinese crackers. Lisa also snapped these photos of Zoë playing with her classmates.

That evening we went out for ice cream at our neighborhood ice cream parlor, Bobtails. We had no problems convincing Zoë to try a few flavors.

Zoë has a new, wonderful skill that she started this week - she gives kisses to mom and dad!

Lovin' the fruits

We've found that Zoë is a VERY picky eater. One thing is for certain, she sure loves fruit. She eats at least one whole banana a day, and lately she has really gotten into oranges and strawberries. The great thing is that she pretty much feeds herself these days. I'd say about 75% of the food makes it into her mouth. The rest ends up elsewhere - hair, face, clothes, floor, diaper, dad's mouth.

Linus

Zoë's favorite item in the house is her blanket which she drags practically everywhere. Because of this, she has a nickname, Linus, for the Peanuts character by Charles Schulz.
