More photos of autumn so far. Things have been busy, to say the least.

Hello, Lisa here -- this is my second post ever to the blog, the first being Zoë's first Father's Day. Chris originally started this blog when Zoë was born and has since given updates from his perspective. Since things are certainly a little more chaotic with our new addition and Chris's work schedule, we have waited to post some photos of the event.
Prior to Ezra being born, my mom and dad were visiting to help us set up our new home and help with Zoë. They did an extensive amount of work on assembling bookcases, standing in line at the DMV while I was post-baby, hanging pictures on our once-bare walls, and cooking wonderful meals. Zoë has really missed her school friends in Chicago. Having the grandparents, Uncle David who lives in the area, and a weekend visit from Aunt Becky has helped immensely. Luckily, Zoë will be starting preschool twice a week next week to introduce her to new friends and fun projects.
I finished working at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in mid-August, took my medical boards for PM&R, then started my maternity leave early. This time, unlike with Zoë's early arrival, we were prepared.
Ezra Hong-wei Hsu was born a day before his due date, on September 22 at 2:17AM. After being in early labor all day and being detoured from the hospital until the contractions were closer together, we headed to Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, CA to meet our son early in the morning. There are always surprises for me when it comes to labor and delivery; in the end we welcomed a healthy baby boy. Enjoy the photos! I'm enjoying my new cuddler and seeing Zoë turn into a great big sister. :)

Father's Day and Goodbyes
The last few days have been all about spending time with friends we've made in Chicago before our move to California. I leave on June 23 while Lisa and Zoë will stay behind and meet me on the coast in about 5-6 weeks later. Lisa has to make up some maternity leave she took 3 years ago. I spent Father's Day weekend first having breakfast with Zoë at daycare. We also got to spend some quality meals with some great friends we made in Chicago who we are really going to miss - Grace, Kate, Laura, Marian, Ali, Geoff and the Birkners and Griffiths. We hope you guys visit us in California soon! Or we'll be back in Chicago.

Graduation
Lisa and I graduated from residency this weekend. Lisa's parents flew back from Maine for her graduation so Zoë was able to spend some time with them. Bryan and Lindsey also were in town for the weekend to help watch her.

First dance recital
Zoë had a dance recital recently. We're guessing she didn't realize mom and dad were going to be present because when she saw us sitting near the front...well, you'll see. Let's just say she didn't get back on stage for the rest of the show.

Baltimore
We visited Baltimore this past weekend which was a big trip for us. First, it was Zoë's first trip by plane. She was excited, but we were very nervous that she would get antsy on the trip. As it turned out, she did great! We flew to Baltimore to see our friends Steve and Kelly get married but to also visit our friends Julie and Brent and their son Aiden who we haven't seen in awhile. They were gracious to let us stay with them but they also offered to babysit Zoë while we were at the wedding which was extremely helpful. It worked out perfectly - Zoë and Aiden played wonderfully together. Besides the wonderful wedding we were able to hang out in Baltimore by the harbor. Zoë had a blast and we'd like to think Aiden did too.

Dancing
Zoë started dance class at the daycare. She is the youngest in the class but loves dancing. The teachers let her in this group because they noticed she took a strong interest to the older kids dancing in the class. The teachers therefore asked that we consider including her in the class with the older kids. She loves it! We'll have more pics of her in her leotard and maybe of her dancing in class.
Zoë and Lisa also recently went to Normal because Lisa's cousin, Peter, and his family were back in town visiting. There were a lot of kids there so Zoë was never bored.

March activities
March was a busy month. Lisa's sister, Cathy, had her third baby. We went to visit the family early in March shortly after the birth. Zoë got to hang out with some cousins as usual.
We then found some time to visit my aunt and uncle, Aunt Amy and Uncle Ken, in Waukegan for dinner. Zoë got a stuffed rabbit for an early Easter present.
Lisa's brother, Bryan, and his wife, Lindsey, came for a short visit in Chicago and took some time to read to Zoë.

House is on the market
We move to California in 5 months. In preparation, we listed our condo today. Prior to this we had to make a few changes such as fix a couple of doors and repaint the bedroom as well as the entryway. Because of time constraints we hired professionals to do the painting. We decided to go with some warmer colors. The first night after the painting we had to sleep on the floor in the office.

Happy holidays and happy new year!
It has been a month since the last post. We have been very busy here but have a moment to give you updates of the past month. We started early in December with Lisa and Zoë running a 5K race known as the Santa Shuffle.
We then went to both our residency holiday parties which were (once again) on the same night. Zoë loved the dessert table and ate her filling of eclaires (literally).
Zoë then had a play date with her friend from daycare, Alex, at their home. You can tell they had a lot of fun that day.
We then went with our friends, Alison and Geoff, to the Lincoln Park Zoo for Zoolights. The whole zoo was covered in holiday lights, and we got to see a lot of the animals including the chimpanzees who were sleeping.
Christmas finally came though I had to work on Christmas Eve in the PICU. I returned home on Christmas Day, and we let Zoë open a couple of presents since our plan was to celebrate later with the Preston family. Zoë got one of her favorite toys - Thomas the Train. She currently carries her Thomas the Train everywhere.
Later that day we went to Chinatown for a Christmas Day dinner, Chinese style. We just didn't plan on anything special at home since we were going to leave in a couple of days for the Preston house. We ordered Peking duck, noodles, salted shrimp, congee and yes, fried pork intenstines. Yum! My favorite (and surpisingly Zoë's too!).
We then headed to Normal, IL to see some Preston family. Zoë especially enjoyed playing with her cousins Rowan and Avery at their beautiful new home. Lisa's brother and his wife, Bryan and Lindsey, were even there.
We opened presents and Zoë received her fair share.
We then celebrated New Years at the Preston-Schreck house by eating venison chili, drinking eggnog and eating ice cream. Zoë got to play with a lot of kids and stay up late.
On New Years Day we had breakfast at the Preston-Schreck house again. We ate French toast, farm fresh eggs and homemade butter (Lisa's Christmas present to Avery).
We left Normal full and satisfied but not ready to go back to work. Zoë showed her satisfaction by flashing a gangster sign.
