The Butt Sign

In pediatrics we often will joke that a baby who has been admitted to our inpatient service to be ready for discharge when we observe what we call the "butt sign". It's a term when the baby falls asleep with its derriere in the air. It's kind of a non-specific, non-sensitive way to indicate that the patient is healthy and perhaps ready for discharge. Zoë fell asleep last night exhibiting this very sign. Lisa and I had a good laugh taking this picture in the dark, and it came out nicely with the flash. We both knew she was a healthy girl.
